The problem
The DTC app stack is a context-switching machine
If you run a DTC brand on Shopify, you have tabs open right now. Shopify admin, Klaviyo, your returns app, your reviews app, your loyalty programme. Each one has its own dashboard, its own reporting logic, and its own interface. You are not running one business. You are running five parallel systems that occasionally share data.
The cost of this is not obvious because it accumulates in small increments. Switching from Shopify to Klaviyo to check a flow performance takes 45 seconds. Doing that 12 times a day is 9 minutes. Multiply that across every app, every day, and you are losing hours every week to navigation overhead alone. Spring '26 Sidekick app integrations are a direct response to this. The premise is simple: answer questions about your whole stack from one place.
What launched
Sidekick app integrations: what each one does
The Spring '26 launch partners for Sidekick app integrations are Klaviyo, Judge.me, Loop, and Smile, with additional partners being added as they build out their Sidekick extensions. Each integration works through a standardised API that lets Sidekick query data and take limited actions within the app from inside the Shopify admin.
With Klaviyo, you can ask Sidekick to pull your welcome series performance, check which flow is underperforming, or surface the revenue contribution from email over the last 30 days, all without opening a new tab. With Judge.me, Sidekick can surface your review rating, flag a pattern in recent reviews, or show pending review requests. With Loop, you can check return rates by product and get a summary of the most common return reasons. With Smile, you can see active points balances, programme engagement rates, and redemption performance.
The depth of what Sidekick can do in each app varies based on what the partner has exposed through the Sidekick API. Klaviyo integration at launch covers querying and guidance; deeper action-taking (creating segments, modifying flows) will expand as the integration matures. The current version is most useful for daily monitoring without tool-switching, which is already a meaningful operational upgrade.
The other AI angle
Managing your Shopify store from Claude and ChatGPT
Alongside Sidekick, Shopify Spring '26 introduced something that will matter significantly to operators who already use AI tools in their workflow. Through chat connectors and the Shopify AI Toolkit, you can now manage your Shopify store directly from Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity. You can add products, create collections, update inventory, and manage orders from within the chat interface, without opening the Shopify admin at all.
The Shopify AI Toolkit extends this further for operators and developers running Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or VS Code. You can execute Shopify store management actions from within your AI development environment, which is particularly useful for brands running automated workflows, batch product updates, or AI-generated content pipelines that feed directly into their store.
For operators who are already using Claude or ChatGPT as daily work tools, this is a significant capability expansion. Instead of switching to Shopify to make a product change or pull an order, you can stay in the AI interface and issue the instruction there. The practical ceiling on this is determined by how much you trust and have tested AI-executed store changes, but the potential for workflow automation is considerable.
Sidekick beyond apps
The other Spring '26 Sidekick upgrades worth knowing
The app integrations are the headline, but Spring '26 delivered several other Sidekick upgrades with operational value. Sidekick now runs across every screen in the Shopify mobile app, so you can get contextual help anywhere in your admin from your phone without navigating to a separate Sidekick view. Actionable guidance surfaces at the start of each admin session, suggesting specific actions to improve conversion, drive repeat sales, or fix gaps in your product data.
Sidekick can now generate purchase orders automatically based on inventory data, which then automatically create transfers. For brands managing multiple SKUs and locations, this removes a significant amount of manual purchase order creation. The multi-task functionality means Sidekick keeps working in the background even when you open a new task or close the window, which makes it practical to use for longer-running operations like product catalogue work.
For Apple Watch users, Sidekick is now accessible from the watch, letting you query store metrics and get quick updates without pulling your phone out. It is a narrow use case but it signals the direction: Shopify wants Sidekick to be a persistent ambient assistant, not a feature you navigate to when you have a specific question.
The operator take
How to use this without letting it become noise
The risk with any AI assistant feature is treating it as a novelty rather than a workflow integration. The brands that will get real value from Sidekick app integrations are those that are already doing daily or weekly reviews of their email performance, return rates, reviews, and loyalty data. Sidekick makes that review faster and more centralised. It does not make it happen if you were not doing it before.
The practical approach is to define three to five questions you already ask across your app stack every week and test whether Sidekick can answer them from inside the admin. If it can, you have removed a tool-switching cost from your weekly routine. If it cannot yet, note the gap and check back as the integrations deepen. Sidekick at this stage is most useful as a query layer, not a decision-making one.
Inside the system
How we build this for brands
At Purposeful Profits, the AI tools we deploy for brands go beyond what Sidekick currently covers. We build custom AI agents that monitor Klaviyo flow performance daily, surface returning customers who have gone quiet, and flag product pages where conversion has dropped week on week, all without the operator needing to log in to check. These agents run on a schedule and report only what needs attention, keeping the operator informed without adding to their monitoring burden.
The Sidekick app integrations from Spring '26 add a useful layer on top of this for brands that primarily work inside the Shopify admin. For brands that have moved to a more AI-native workflow, the Shopify AI Toolkit and Claude connector provide deeper access. Part of this runs live for portfolio brands today; the full system is what we deploy when we take a brand on.
Operations Audit
Find out how much your app stack is costing you in operator time
Most DTC operators are losing 5 to 10 hours a week to tool-switching, manual reporting, and cross-app reconciliation. Book an operations audit and we will map your current stack against where AI automation can remove that overhead and return your time to growth decisions.

Which apps does Shopify Sidekick integrate with in Spring 2026?
Spring '26 launched Sidekick integrations for Klaviyo, Judge.me, Loop Returns, and Smile.io. Shopify is adding more partners as they build out their Sidekick extensions. The integrations allow Sidekick to query data and take limited actions in each app directly from the Shopify admin.
What can I do with Sidekick inside Klaviyo?
With the Klaviyo Sidekick integration, you can query flow performance data, check campaign results, surface segment information, and get guidance on email revenue without leaving the Shopify admin. Deeper action-taking within Klaviyo flows and campaigns will expand as the integration develops.
Can Sidekick replace my Klaviyo account?
No. The Sidekick integration provides a query and monitoring layer over Klaviyo from within the Shopify admin, but Klaviyo is still required for running your actual email flows, campaigns, and automations. Sidekick reduces the daily overhead of checking Klaviyo separately; it does not replicate Klaviyo's functionality.
What is the Shopify AI Toolkit and who is it for?
The Shopify AI Toolkit is a developer-facing product that allows merchants and developers to manage their Shopify store from external AI platforms including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and VS Code. It is primarily for operators who run automated workflows or use AI tools as their primary work environment and want to issue Shopify store management instructions from within those tools.
Is running my store from Claude or ChatGPT safe?
The chat connectors and Shopify AI Toolkit give structured access to store management actions. The safety of AI-executed store changes depends entirely on how clearly you instruct the AI and how thoroughly you review before confirming destructive changes. Treat it the same way you would any admin access: use it for tasks you understand clearly, review changes before applying them, and do not use it for bulk actions without testing on a small set first.
Does the Sidekick Apple Watch integration have practical use?
For most operators, it is a convenience feature rather than a core workflow tool. Checking today's orders, revenue, or a quick metric without pulling out your phone has legitimate value during a busy day. It is not designed for complex store management tasks, but as a peripheral status check it reduces the number of times you need to open your phone to stay informed.
